The Fruit Growing Institute-Plovdiv is a permanent and basic scientific unit of the Agricultural Academy at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Supply. The FGI is assigned to research, extension activities and service in the field of fruit growing.

The FGI is nationally representative in the field of fruit science in Bulgaria.
